Advantages	We love St Gervais les Bains. We keep going back. At Christmas time the lights that greet you at the end of a long trip are very memorable. There is also a firework display on New Years eve. A tall spired church hangs over a deep valley gouged out by the mountain streams. The buildings are picturesque and it has a village feel. Good local shops and produce with an improved supermarket. There is a sense of being surrounded by mountains which are beautiful. It is well placed for several ski fields. There are the fields at St Gervais itself or you can access Megeve with the same pass by getting the lifts up and then sking down the mountain to the Megeve fields. It feels like traversing a mountain range which has a grandeur of its own. Les Contamines (not yet skied) is also close by and uses the same pass. A 20-30 minute drive gets one to Chamonix and the fields there like Les Grand Montets which has spectacular scenery and some challenging skiing though there is an easier slope as well. Nice summer walks too on the slopes of Mt Blanc. A day trip to Annecy or Geneva makes for a good ski break.
